KUCHING, Jan 24 (Bernama) — The newly-formed Sarawak wholly-owned Oil and Gas (O&G) company, Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (Petros), will explore new areas and embrace new technologies in its journey to be among the active players in the oil and gas (O&G) industry within two years.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said with new technologies, the hidrocarbon fields could be profiled through relevant data collected and analysed by Artificial Intelligence capabilities.
As all Petros board members are locals who had served Petronas and Shell before, he expressed confidence that the company has the capability to explore Sarawak´s reserves, especially marginal fields where big companies such as Shell or Exxon had refused to venture into.
“We have the capabilities, the skilled manpower that can identify the latest relevant technologies required.
“We have oil fields and many other needs, including digital economic needs. We must be brave. Dare to venture and try new technologies,” he said at the E6 DP-A Topside and Substructure Loadout Ceremony at the Brooke Dockyard and and Engineering Corporation site in Sejingkat, here, today…..
